Baily Egan

Baily Egan grew up in Colstrip 91制片厂. When Baily first heard from 91制片厂, it was through a call from volleyball coach Jerry Wagner. That call would set her on a path she hadn鈥檛 quite anticipated鈥攂ut one that has since shaped her college journey and future.

鈥淚 had never been to Havre before my recruiting visit,鈥 Baily admits. 鈥淏ut once I was here, I just had a gut feeling that Northern was the right place for me.鈥 Drawn in by the small-town atmosphere, affordability, and the chance to continue playing volleyball, she made the leap鈥攚ithout even touring beforehand.

For Baily, the transition from homebody to college student came with challenges. 鈥淚 was really nervous about being away from home,鈥 she says. 鈥淎nd not knowing what to expect was scary. But Northern鈥檚 coaches and staff helped me get settled and feel supported.鈥 That sense of support has only grown over time. 鈥淭he community here has exceeded anything I ever expected.鈥

Northern鈥檚 close-knit campus and hands-on approach have given Baily the tools to grow both personally and professionally. She credits small class sizes and accessible faculty with helping her truly understand the practical side of engineering. 鈥淭he labs and the resources here really prepare you鈥攊f you take advantage of them,鈥 she says. 鈥淚鈥檝e learned to be resourceful and to manage my time, especially balancing a tough academic schedule with volleyball.

Volleyball has been a cornerstone of Baily鈥檚 college experience, not just for the sport, but for the friendships it brought. 鈥淚t gave me some of my best friends, and honestly, that鈥檚 been the best part of college,鈥 she says. Some of her favorite memories are the simple ones鈥攕unset drives, music, and moments shared with those close to her.

Last summer, Baily interned at Westmoreland Rosebud Mine, an opportunity that opened her eyes to the range of possibilities within the civil engineering field. While she鈥檚 still figuring out her post-graduation plans, she鈥檚 confident in her foundation. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know exactly where I鈥檒l be in five years,鈥 she says, 鈥渂ut I trust that things will work out the way they鈥檙e meant to.鈥

Her advice to future students? Don鈥檛 judge Northern by first impressions. 鈥淗avre might catch you off guard, but once you're here, you start to see what makes it special. You just learn to love it.鈥
